Artist Statement
Pamela Marino is a multimedia artist & educator from Groton, MA.
She is a current senior at Springfield College, studying art education with a concentration in secondary education and minors in art therapy and community arts.
In her work, Pam explores color and texture through a variety of mediums and subject matters. Acrylic paint, mixed media illustration, and fiber-arts are aiming her favorites, but her goal as a creator is to never stop exploring. Some imagery consistent in her work includes rainbows, trees, flowers, birds, houses, bright colors, and wide-open eyes.
As an aspiring art educator, Pam’s goal is to empower her students to be curious embrace the playful, expressive nature of visual arts. Art is inherently imperfect. It is messy and can open the door for many, many mistakes to be made, but it is from out mistake that we can learn the greatest lessons. Pam hopes to inspire her students to use their creative voices to express their identity and create change.
The creative education she has received from Springfield College has been both broad and expansive. Her education has allowed her to explore ceramics, painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, graphic design, and performance, among other foundational skills. The leadership skills she has amassed from her time at Springfield College has also been valuable. From 2018 to 2021, Pam was president of is Springfield College's art club. In this role, she worked to foster creative connections on campus. As a club, they used their unique skills to serve several communities, including their club community, their campus community, the Springfield community, and the global community.
